The Rivers Train Station Restoration Committee, with genrous funding from the  Manitoba Heritage Grants Program, has sponsored a series of in-depth research projects. It began with two foundational projects that establish a knowledge framework from which is then built upon by more specific projects.


Special Places

Special Places projects are inventories of Heritage Sites identify the built heritage of a community and set out to identify the relative heritage value of those sites. Part of the purpoase is to help local governments and heritage association set priorities in the the area of preservation and promotion.

 For many communities the follow up to Special Places is a look at Notable People. At the Rivers was working on a comprehensive local history so it was thought bst to leave that project for later.

A Timeline of of events and activities that defined the community from its beginnings in 1880 until approximately 1960. 
The results of the project will be available in print and digital forms. 

The Grand Trunk Pacific in Rivers - A Research Project

The project contains a series of documents relating to the impact of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway on the creation and development of the Town ofd Rivers, Manitoba.
