Recent Experiences & Creations

The Historic Places Initiative

From 2004 through 2009 I have produced Statements of Significance for the Historic Places Intitiative. The process involves research, interviews, photography and writing. The work calls for an extensive knowledge of local history, good working knowledge of common architectural terms and architectural history, photography skills and the ability to produce concise, accurate and expressive prose.  Sample

Special Places Projects

From 2008 through 2010 I have produced Heritage Inventories for ten Urban and Rural Communities in Manitoba. The process involves extensive site visits and research leading to an in-depth understanding of the history of a community and its buildings. The results and analysis are published in binders for use by local groups. See News Reports

Heritage Districts

In 2009 / 2010 I have undertaken the role of consultant in the Virden Heritage District Project. Virden will be the second Manitoba town to designate a Local Heritage District. See news reports.

Heritage Advisory Committees

As of 2009 I serve as Heritage Coordinator for the Brandon Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee.
