11. Town Halls & Community Halls



The first community halls were often privately owned enterprizes above a retail business. This private home in Pierson was originally a warehouse with a hall above.


The Kilkenny Store in Broomhill had a large hall on the second floor.



Communities might decide, as Hartney and Boissevain did, to build a multi-purpose structure to house local government offices, a Fire Station, and a Community Hall.



The Boissevain Town Hall & Fire Station has seen a variety of uses over the years



Lodges and other organizations might build a meetings place like this IOOF Hall in Melita.


Community Halls like this one in Lyleton, and Memorial Halls replaced older structures in the Post WW2 years.
