Mr.
Anderson with his wife, two sons and three daughters arrived in the
outskirts of Killarney on September of 1884 at ten in the evening from
Emerson. Not knowing for sure where his homestead was, he pitched
a tent for his wife and family to sleep in, and he and one son slept
under the wagon box. in the morning they found their land and got
settled and started building their house with the help of Mr. Jim Daly
and others. They farmed here until the summer of 1900 when they
moved into Killarney to start a machine business. They were
Methodists all through life. In 1910 they left Killarney and
moved to Strathmore, Alberta, leaving one daughter (Amelia,) Mrs.
Walter Eggleton, and one son Robert behind as they were both
married. Mr. Anderson was in the John Deere business and after
his death in April of 1935 at the age of 97, his sons carried on.
His wife was 97 when she passed away in 1937. They had five sons
and three daughters, one still living in Toronto, Ontario, Fred
Anderson.
