Cowie, James L.
Biography: Born Almonte ON. Jan. 28, 1875. Died Dec. 16, 1946.
Claims: J.L. Cowie was the editor of the Carberry News – Express
(Formerly two operations) from 1910 to1937 (one of his employees was
Stanley Knowles and was elected Mayor in 1937. School Board. In 1943,
he was elected an Honorary Life Member of the Manitoba Branch of the
Canadian Weekly Newspapers Association.
