Cowie, James L.



Biography:  Born Almonte ON. Jan. 28, 1875. Died Dec. 16, 1946.
Claims:  J.L. Cowie was the editor of the Carberry News – Express (Formerly two operations) from 1910 to1937 (one of his employees was Stanley Knowles and was elected Mayor in 1937. School Board. In 1943, he was elected an Honorary Life Member of the Manitoba Branch of the Canadian Weekly Newspapers Association.

Biography: From Lakefield, Peterboro, ON.
Claims: Duff & Jeffery: Blacksmiths, Horse Shoers, Woodworkers, Carriage Builders & Painters. Duff handled the Woodworking, Carriage Building and Painting duties. Town Council.

Biography:   Born at Napanee, Ontario on 13 May 1872. Married Louise Madeline McKinnon (1880-1907) Died 5 August 1955.
Claims:  Est Law practice in Carberry in 1898. Solicitor for R.M. of Norfolk & Town of Carberry. Mayor 1915-17. I.O.O.F.

Rogers, William George




Biography:  Born at New Boyne, ON Aug. 27, 1854. Married  Margaret Ann Stinson
Claims:  Came in 1878 with John H. Lyons and “old school chum”.  Owner of the Carberry News,  Reeve,  Grand President of the Patrons of Industry.  Moved to Vancouver in 1907.
