Commentary

Taken from the hiking trail in Spruce Wood Provincial Park

This is a very pleasant, easy-going trip. There is some fast water and some beautiful sand hills scenery. You may land on the north side just before going under the bridge - it's a small climb to a parking spot, or proceed a few hundred metre into the park.

Historical Notes

This area inspired considerable comment by steamboat passengers in the early 1880's. It was unlike anything they had experienced.

The Stockton Ferry still operates in season.
